This design was inspired by the Book of Durrow, a close cousin of the Book of Kells. The detailed design is a marriage of old and new. The central triskele motif is one of the most recognizable symbols of Celtic art.  It is derived from the Greek word “triskeles” meaning three legs. The triskele is surrounded by a ring of doves which in the Celtic Christian tradition represent the resurrection and immortality. The vibrant color combinations of reds and oranges, accented with black, white and gold detail, combined with the radial layout of the font and ivory background present a modern accent. The blessing “May the road rise” a well know Irish blessing, was originally a Gaelic prayer wishing fortune to a friend until their paths cross again. It references the three elements of rain, wind and sun, emphasizing the strong connection between the ancient Irish and nature.
